Encrypted Transaction Mempool
A proprietary solution that permanently stops front-running and sandwich attacks on XOLIXBlock.
The Problem of MEV (Maximal Extractable Value)
On transparent blockchains like Ethereum, all pending transactions sit in a public "mempool." Sophisticated bots can scan this mempool for profitable trades, then copy them and pay a higher gas fee to get their transaction included first—a practice known as "front-running." A "sandwich attack" is similar, where a bot places a trade before and after a user's trade to exploit the price slippage. MEV costs DeFi users billions of dollars each year.
The Solution: Encrypted Until Confirmed
XOLIXBlock implements a Fair Ordering Protocol using an encrypted mempool. When a user submits a transaction, its contents (like the amount and destination address) are encrypted before being broadcast to the network. The transaction remains a "black box" to validators and bots in the mempool.
Since bots cannot see the details of pending transactions, they cannot identify profitable trades to front-run. The encrypted transactions are ordered by the validator based on a first-come, first-served basis or a fair, randomized ordering. Only after a transaction is included in a block and confirmed is it decrypted and executed.
How It Works
- **Transaction Encryption:** A user's wallet encrypts the transaction details using a threshold encryption scheme.
- **Mempool Obfuscation:** The encrypted transaction is broadcast to the mempool. Validators can see the transaction exists but cannot read its contents.
- **Fair Ordering:** The block-producing validator includes encrypted transactions in a new block based on a fair ordering rule (e.g., time of arrival).
- **Threshold Decryption:** Once the block is finalized, a quorum of validators must collaborate to decrypt the transactions using their respective key shares. No single validator can decrypt the data alone.
- **Execution:** The decrypted transactions are executed in the predetermined order. By this point, it is too late for any bot to reorder or insert transactions to exploit them.
Key Advantages
- Eliminates Front-Running & Sandwich Attacks: Makes it impossible for bots to exploit users' trades.
- Fairer DeFi Ecosystem: Creates a level playing field for all users, ensuring better prices and less slippage on decentralized exchanges.
- Increased Privacy: Transaction details are not publicly visible until they are irreversibly confirmed on the blockchain.
